How To Prevent Ingrown Hairs After Epilation

Almost every woman has gone through the process of epilation to remove unwanted body hair direct from the root and has encountered severe hair problems due to the act. One of the downfalls of epilation is ingrown hairsIngrown hairs can occur after epilation done through tweezing, waxing, threading or epilator which can cause sores and pimple-like bumps that are both painful and embarrassing. The hair problems related to ingrown hairs usually arise when during the process of epilation the hair breaks either above or below the skin’s surface. In turn, the hair grows back into the skin causing the problem of ingrown hairs
To prevent such irritating hair problems, following are few instructions:
Take a warm shower
You can prevent ingrown hairs by taking a warm shower before epilating. The steam will open up your skin pores and make your hairs softened making it easier to remove them. As a result, this will help preventing ingrown hairs.
Exfoliate
Exfoliation before and after epilation is an effective way to prevent ingrown hairs. To avoid these hair problems apply a body scrub using a loofah to the area you will be epilating, which will remove dead skin cells that can potentially arise hair problems due to clog pores. After epilation, you can prevent ingrown hairs by gentle exfoliation to keep dead skin cells out of the follicle. The exfoliation will help the hairs in growing up instead of going back into skin.
Use astringent
You can prevent ingrown hairs by applying mild astringent over the area where the hair has been removed. Dampen a cotton ball with alcohol-free astringent and rub lightly after epilation to avoid hair problems.
Lotion
Apply a mild moisturizer or lotion to prevent ingrown hairs. However, try to avoid heavy or greasy lotions as this can clog the pores which may in turn cause hair problems.
Salicylic Acid
Applying salicylic acid to the epilated area is another effective remedy to prevent ingrown hairs. Using salicylic acid is a common acne treatment which helps the body shedding dead skin and keeps pores safe from clogging.
Avoid tight-fitting clothes
If you have done any type of epilation, you should avoid tight and fitted clothes to prevent hair problems. Tight clothes can irritate freshly epilated areas and can also encourage the hair to grow back into the skin causing the problem of ingrown hairs.
