Oily skin is prone to white heads. These are form of acne which are
caused by oil-clogging in the pore. These mostly develop in cheekbone,
areas around the nose or where you have fine skin.
Major causes
White heads can occur due to genetic factors, bacterial infection, unhealthy diet or poor hygiene.
How to remove
Get steam or apply hot wet compressor on whitehead area. It will open pores. With clean hand, pop white head and gently squeeze it using a sterile needle or a pin. Wash face to avoid infection. Use a natural facial scrub such as oatmeal and yogurt mixture for oily skin or oatmeal and milk for dry skin. Massage in circular motion all over the face especially in T-zone i.e. forehead, nose and chin.
Mask
Various masks are available that can help close pores and avoid white heads. These can be prepared at home or bought from a good skin care product supplier.
Cucumber mask: It is the best tonic for oily skin. It helps avoid white heads and keeps skin clear.
Honey mask: Wash your face with warm water and apply thin layer of honey. Leave it for 15 to 20 minutes. Using finger pores, massage in circular direction. Wash face to remove it completely.
Proper cleansing
Keep your skin clean. Use oil-free face wash. Avoid soaps which have harsh chemicals because these can deprive skin of its natural moisture. Cleansing milk and toners are also important. Use these every morning and evening but don’t over-cleanse. Avoid touching skin with your hands because it can transfer bacteria and cause problems.
Keep skin hydrated
Dry skin is more susceptible to white heads. Therefore, keep your skin well-hydrated. Apply moisturizers lavishly, whenever it tends to get dry. Drink plenty of fresh water daily.
Skin products
Avoid those skin products which are oil-based as these can make condition worse. Look for oil-free and non-comedogenic cosmetics. These don’t cause pore-clogging and excessive oil on the skin.
